Town Honors Little League Heroes [Video]

Three Little League championship teams received certificates of congratulations from the Fairfield Board of Selectmen on Wednesday

Three championship Little League teams from Fairfield were recognized for their accomplishments on Wednesday when they were honored by the town during a ceremony.

It was another spectacular summer for Fairfield, which certainly can stake a claim as the Little League capital of the state.

Its teams claimed three state championships, and the 12-year-old girls softball team took it a step further by winning the New England crown.

On the boys' side, the 11- and 12-year-old teams won state titles with the 12-year-olds coming within two games of a return trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport.

To recognize the achievements of the youing ballplayers, the Fairfield Board of Selectmen issued certificates of congratulations to each team member along with their managers and coaches.
