Simple Ways To Motivate Yourself To Workout

If one of your new year’s resolutions was to get in better shape, or even just make your health a priority, you may be finding it difficult to motivate yourself to get to the gym.  One of the hardest parts about beginning a new routine, fitness or otherwise, is putting your shoes on and heading out the door.  A healthy body starts with a healthy and motivated mind.

Exercise does not have to be a chore.  There are healthy and simple ways to motivate yourself to exercise.  Workouts can be fun as well as positive in regards to your fitness regimen.  Check out these healthy and effective ways to motivate yourself to make it to your next workout.

Do What You Know

When your life is stressful (and whose isn’t?), go to a workout you know.  While varying your exercise routine is great and healthy, there are times when we need to just do something familiar.  Practice your go-to exercises when you are feeling stressed or burnt out.  This can help to inspire you to try something new the next time you hit the gym.  Variety is the spice of life but that doesn’t mean we can’t do what is familiar.

Post Affirmations Where You Can See Them

It may sound silly but it works.  Post positive affirmations all throughout your house.  Put sticky notes or magnets on your fridge that can work to inspire you to make it to your next workout session.  Set reminders on your phone that can help you remember when your next gym workout is.  These upbeat reminders can help keep you motivated to burn some calories and get in better shape.

Have a Smoothie

If you need some quick energy to make it to the gym, have a healthy whole fruit smoothie.  Refueling your body can be a great way to gain some instant motivation to work out.  Fruit can help give you the energy and focus you need to exercise.  Just make sure you eat only fresh fruit and avoid the sugar laden overly processed store bought varieties.  Fuel up so that you can work out.

Ignore Social Media

Constantly checking facebook and instagram can leave you feeling discouraged, when really you should be feeling motivated.  Social media can have unrealistic images of people that we can’t live up to.  Social media can also be a huge time waster.  Once you log on, the hours can just fly by.  The time you could have spent exercising at the gym, you spent in front of the computer.

Always consult your chiropractor or primary care physician for all your health related advice.
