Connecticut Audubon Society has completed a major conservation and management plan for Aspetuck Land Trust, using its scientific expertise to help the organization balance conservation and recreation on its heavily-used Trout Brook Valley preserve, one of the most important ecological features of Fairfield County.
The plan is the product of a year’s worth of work conducted by Connecticut Audubon Society’s Conservation Services staff under contract to Aspetuck Land Trust.

Our Conservation Services program is one of the key ways we fulfill our mission of protecting Connecticut’s birds and their habitats.
Our staff scientists survey and assess habitats, and devise conservation plans based on the land’s resources and uses. We do so for public and private landowners, in a way that is efficient and cost-effective for the client.

Golf course was planned, housing was shown as a fiat by State to show "maximum development potential" never intent of course plan or gracious developer. Nature Conservancy was offered same amount of money to be put to purchasing and protecting Tree Tops on Greenwich/Stamford border and 85 Bridgeport acres, for downtown conservancy. Nature Conservancy turned down the offer even though a tougher deed restriction than they were willing to put on land outside planned course because "it would hurt thier image and make fund raising more diffucult". Paul Newman and the then State DEP were involved. Only blemish on then running for re election resume was he was " too developer friendly" he went to jail, he should have had company. Send your "staff scientists" to find trout in Trout Brook (there are none for breeding season....while they are at it ponder that the mismangement of lock it and leave it by non management of "conservation lands" have fewer species of meadow bird species than well designed and maintained golf courses. "Educate" the children that fraud and taxpayer abuse is not restricted to profit companies.
