15U National Championship? Championship of what? Who sanctioned this fictitious "NationalRead More Championship"? Are these the best 15U in the country or those just fortunate enough to be able to fork over $3000 to for-profit travel teams run by the likes of the money grubbing Fournier's with promises of college scholarships at the age of 15?

Right-wing bigot thinks that soccer in Un-American. What is with these people ?Read More ........................ Soccer is destroying the USA. So says conservative syndicated columnist Ann Coulter. Coulter went on a rant about the sport, calling it un-American in a column Wednesday headlined, "America's Favorite National Pastime: Hating Soccer." Readers called the column "contemptible," "uneducated" and "moronic" in comments posted on The Clarion Ledger's website. The Ledger is owned by Gannett, which also owns USA TODAY. Coulter's column is distributed by Universal Press. "Hahaha this is the biggest lot of nonsense I have ever read," one commenter wrote. USATODAY USA Today World Cup Coulter argues the reason people are watching soccer now is because of Sen. Edward Kennedy's 1965 immigration law. "I promise you: No American whose great-grandfather was born here is watching soccer," she wrote. "One can only hope that, in addition to learning English, these new Americans will drop their soccer fetish with time." She also says soccer is not a "real sport." A real sport, she argues, requires individual achievement and "the prospect of either personal humiliation or major injury."

It's so tiring reading about these incidents where the very things that humanize people villifiesRead More them. Someone who spent 5yrs. volunteering his time, loses his temper and is forced to resign. As for kids being "traumatized"? What could have been a teaching moment got turned into a reaction that screams "we are intolerant to human imperfections."

Parents ruin sports..
sportsnut July 14, 2014 at 07:39 am
Alan I agree. Parents coach to get their kids and kids friends a leg up. Kids are choosen too basedRead More on parents and kids being friends. Take AAU and All-Stars and positions in each sport. Parents coach because they want their kid in prime positions, kids are friends with certain kids or because a family does not like someone but the kid has talent not playing. You need "out of area" coaches to come and determine if a kid is "that good" to be at the next level not "locals" whom coach because that is the only way the kid will get playing time.

I spoke to someone the other day who had the perspective that one or the other team was evil. IRead More wonder would someone not stop to help a person wearing the wrong team hat or shirt? what a bunch of knuckle dragging, right wing racist fruit cakes! UNBELIEVABLE. ps: for Bill S.Read More students from EVERY College make the dean's list, only 1 NCAA division 1 b-ball CHAMP !
Bill S. April 11, 2014 at 07:47 am
To Bro Renza, True, students from every college make the deans list. However, why does winning aRead More national championship in basketball deserve more recognition and media hype than making the deans list? How do we expect our younger generation to put their priorities in the right place when all the recognition goes to excelling in sports? When job recruiters interview college students they don't ask for the win/loss record of the school's basketball team. Job recruiters stress academic preparation and achievement, work experience, and maturity. By the way, Bro Renza, since you want to dwell on sports, here is a tidbit for you. If you want to succeed on Wall Street, lacrosse is the sport for the Big Boys there, not basketball.

Sox fan since the 70's no bandwagon here. Awesome season last year! Especially considering that theRead More sox did it with a mix of homegrown talent and low priced free agents. Unlike some teams who went out this year and bought up the entire market.
B-Rad March 28, 2014 at 05:03 pm
Once again the Yankees will be a total failure....Since they started spending money in 2001 theyRead More have only won one world series...TOTAL FAILURE!!!! Their management will NEVER learn how to build a team based on players who have playoff experience. Instead they try to buy players where most of them never work out! Chemistry is such a huge factor in winning titles and this is something the Yankee forgot to do like they did back in the late 90's. They will once again a .500 team this year and if they get into the playoffs, they will be quickly ousted once again. REMIND ME WHO THE DEFENDING CHAMPS ARE AGAIN??? OH YES, THAT WOULD BE THE RED SOX. 3 CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 10 YEARS!
Richard Poulton March 28, 2014 at 08:24 pm
Yes, B-Rad, you are correct. Red Sox's have 3 wins in last 10 years. Great, this makes for goodRead More baseball between fans on both sides. But seeing you like numbers, let's see the real numbers. Yankee's 27 world series rings. Boston 8. The numbers don't lie. FYI, I could care less either way. Can't wait for football season.

TBL, For your information,I served during one of our most unpopular "wars"many years ago,Read More so thank you for addressing me as sir. Unfortunately I suppose I protected your freedom. My statements are erroneous in YOUR opinion, maybe others also, but I stand behind my comments and viewpoints and don't give a hoot what you think of them and what you consider to be patriotic. That is why this forum is here,to express ideas and thoughts.Too bad for you if I shook up your hyper sensitive personality. Already many of these "heroes" are reaping the harvest of all sorts of endorsement offers worth millions of dollars from breakfast cereals, clothing companies, etc . I will sink to your level of name calling here and state that the message I'm trying to convey in my post to IDIOTS like you is that too much emphasis is placed on sports worshiping and television. Our culture is in a serious decline,or have you not noticed. Maybe you're too busy watching the latest episode of Duck Dynasty.Don't preach about practice and dedication either. How about nurses, firefighters, police officers, constuction workers,etc..? Do they not put in many hours of training,? Some putting their lives on the line to protect dollts like you. Is your head so far up your @*^ that you don't realize our school age children are falling way behind other nations in academics? To what do you attribute that to, sir?
TBL of CT February 25, 2014 at 06:23 pm
Very gentlemanly of you to refer to a fellow patriot the way you have "sir." "MyRead More level of name calling..." too huh... you make me laugh Biff... truly you cannot fathom the reality of my response nor are you mature enough to even attempt it.
Joeseph Biff February 25, 2014 at 10:43 pm
TBL,You're speaking from your butt hole again, and it seems I've really struck a nerve in you.Read More However, it's reassuring to know that even you have a sense of humor, since I made you laugh .Bravo! It gives me hope for people like you. By the way,I don't consider this banter. Far from it. Perhaps you should look the word up in a dictionary if you own one. If I may burst your bubble one more time.Even though I'm immature in your little mind, I understand your oh so clever(in your opinion) jibberish laden response and posts. Feel free to keep it going if you like .I rather enjoy this type of what you refer to as banter. LOL! In closing, please keep in mind this old chestnut: Make sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear. And please remember to stick to your meds regimen.
