Pedestrian Struck on Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield

Police are investigating, according to a report on DoingItLocal.com.

[Editor's Note: Photos and report information supplied by Stephen Krauchick of DoingItLocal.com.] A pedestrian was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a van, according to a report on DoingItLocal.com. The accident occurred at the intersection of Tunxis Hill Road and Villa Avenue, according to the report. A fire truck happened to be stopped at a red light near the intersection when the accident occurred and the driver reported it to police. Fairfield police are investigating the incident.

Woman Charged with Theft from Cousin

She reportedly made a fraudulent withdrawal from her cousin's bank account, police said.

It does not indicate convictions.] A Weston woman was charged with fifth-degree larceny after she allegedly used her cousin’s ATM card to withdraw $979 when she only had permission to withdraw $300, police said. According to the report, Rachel Johnson, 36, of Steep Hill Road in Weston, fraudulently withdrew from her cousin’s account to the point of a negative balance in August after her cousin offered to let her withdraw $300 from the account, police said. The cousin, a Fairfield resident, reported the theft to police. When police interview Johnson, they discovered she lives with her elderly mother who said Johnson may have taken money from her but did not …

Two Charged for Hosting Large, Loud Parties

Police arrested two university students for hosting 'unreasonably loud' parties on Fairfield Beach Road.

It does not indicate convictions.] Two local university students were arrested recently for allegedly hosting large and unreasonably loud parties of Fairfield Beach Road. Patrick McCahill, 22, of New Jersey was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called to his Fairfield Beach Road student residence late Sunday for a party generating “unreasonable noise,” police said. When responding officers arrived, guests began to disperse yelling “The cops are here!” There were more than 60 guests inside the house, according to the report. Fairfield Man Arrested on Larceny, Six Other Charges

James Kosch, 26, of Linwood Ave also faces six counts of failure to appear in court, police said.

All warrants were served Monday evening by the Fairfield Police Department. James Kosch, 26, of Linwood Avenue was charged sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit the crime for allegedly swiping $127 worth of Gillette Fusion men’s razor cartridges from the Post Road drugstore, according to the police report. Man Charged with Threatening, Assaulting Grandmother

West Haven police assisted in arresting Andrew Hernandez, 31, on Monday.

It does not indicate convictions.] A West Haven man was arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting his 82-year-old grandmother, a Fairfield resident who lives on High Street, police said. Police were alerted to the situation by a program coordinator at People’s United Bank, who requested a welfare check on the grandmother after noticing $20,000 had been withdrawn from the woman’s account. The $20,000 had reportedly been cashed in checks by the woman’s grandson Andrew Hernandez, 31, of West Haven, who allegedly forged his grandmother’s signature to endorse the checks and overdrew the accounts. Police also determined he had hidden her bank statements from her. …

Police are investigating a series for reported larcenies.

A Riverside Drive resident reported that her white Coach purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle sometime between Thursday and Friday, police said. The purse itself is valued at $600. Cops: Pitbull Halts Mail Delivery on Fairview Ave

According to a police report, a pit bull bit a mail carrier in late April and since then mail delivery has slowed or stopped for the neighborhood.

[Editor's Note: Incident information is supplied by the Fairfield Police Department.] Some Fairview Avenue residents have not been getting their mail due to a neighbor’s pit bull disrupting the postal carrier’s route. According to Fairfield Police, a pit bull owned by John Prom of 147 Fairview Avenue bit a mail carrier on April 25, tearing the man’s jacket and forcing the postal worker to use mail and his leather bag as a shield and utilized pepper spray to keep the dog at bay. The 147 Fairview Ave residence is reportedly surrounded by an invisible fence, but that did not stop the pit bull from escaping the yard, police said. Fairfield Woman Charged With DUI in Darien

Just after midnight on Friday, Darien Police charged the woman with driving while under the influence of alcohol on Hoyt Street.

It does not indicate a conviction.] A police officer driving north on Hoyt Street saw a car cross the road's center line twice, so the officer stopped the vehicle, resulting in the arrest of a Fairfield woman on charges of driving while under the influence of alcohol. Darien police gave this account of the incident: Just after midnight on Friday, the officer saw the car, a 2011 Nissan Sentra, and observed that it crossed over the center line. On stopping the car on Hoyt Street near Camp Avenue, the officer spoke with the driver, Kristen Becker of Rock Ridge Road in Fairfield. The officer smelled alcohol. Kyle Potenziani, 19, was charged with third-degree assault after he allegedly slapped his ex-girlfriend's face, re-breaking her nose, police said.

Kyle Pontenziani, 19, who attends Fairfield University, reportedly slapped his ex-girlfriend’s face, re-breaking her nose, according to the report. The victim, another 19-year-old Fairfield University student, reported the incident to police on April 27, the day after the alleged assault occurred. According to her statement, Pontenziani was visiting in the victim’s dorm room while she was writing a paper. He reportedly drank more than half of a bottle of vodka, asked the complainant for hugs…
