Fire Station 3 at 400 Jackman Ave. is one of five fire stations in town and is also home to the StratfieldMore Volunteer Fire Department. Fire Station 3 is staffed by three career firefighters at any one time and includes an engine company of the Fairfield Fire Department and the department's hazardous materials and foam units.</p> <p>The Fairfield Fire Department provides emergency services to citizens, businesses and industries in the town of Fairfield and fire safety education, inspection and investigative services for code enforcement. The Fire Department also determines the origin and cause of fires and is designated by the state Department of Emergency Medical Services as first responders to all medical emergencies within the town.</p> <p>In 2009, Fairfield firefighters responded to 8,946 calls for help throughout Fairfield's 30 square miles.</p> <p>The Fairfield Fire Department is a founding member of the Fairfield County Hazardous Materials Response Team, and firefighters also are trained for specialized rescue operations. Their non-emergency work includes smoke detector surveys, fire safety education at public and private schools, fire inspections, pre-fire planning, OSHA-mandated training of firefighters, police officers, public works' employees and school maintenance staff, and training related to homeland defense missions.</p> <p>The Fire Department employs 97 people full-time, including a fire chief, deputy fire chief, two fire marshals, a fire inspector, a training director, four assistant fire chiefs, 20 fire lieutenants, 64 firefighters, a master mechanic, mechanic and secretary. The department also employs a part-time secretary, part-time training center assistant and part-time clerk in the Fire Marshal's office.</p> <p>The Fire Department's budget in 2009-10 is $12.2 million.</p>

Department of Emergency Management

The Department of Emergency Management plans emergency responses and staffs an Emergency Operations Center at FireMore Station 2 on Jennings Road during all major natural disasters. This center becomes the central focus of emergency operations when catastrophic  events occur in Fairfield.</p> <p>The town's emergency services information telephone number (203-254-4899) is a product of the Department of Emergency Management.</p> <p>The 2009-10 budget for the Department of Emergency Management is $25,227 and 50 percent of this budget is reimbursed by state and federal grants.</p> <p>Fire Chief Richard Felner was appointed in January 2002 as the town's director of emergency management.</p>

The Moms Club of Fairfield North/Easton CT - one of three Moms Clubs in Fairfield - was established in 2004 as aMore support group for stay-at-home moms and children living in the Easton school district and, in Fairfield, in the Stratfield and North Stratfield school districts.</p> <p>The Moms Club of Fairfield North/Easton CT is a chapter of the International Moms Club (Moms Offering Moms Support,) which is a non-profit, non-denominational organization for stay-at-home mothers and their children.</p> <p>The Moms Club of Fairfield North/Easton CT offers weekly activities for stay-at-home moms and their children that include trips to parks; field trips to museums and zoos; arts and crafts activities; story times; play groups; strawberry, blueberry, apple and pumpkin picking; picnics; tours of fire and police departments; and breakfast and lunch dates.</p> <p>The club is also involved in community outreach and it has collected and donated food and toys during the holidays, donated clothing and books, read to children at a local elementary school and raised money for national and international charities.</p>

Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department

The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department, established in 1920, operates out of Fire Station 3 at 400 Jackman Ave.,More which is also staffed by career firefighters.</p> <p>The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department has a total of 80 active and social members. Active members man the department's rescue truck, Rescue #15, seven nights a week beginning at 6 p.m.</p> <p>Active members attend ongoing training and drills and are required to have: The minimum certification of State of Connecticut Firefighter 1, a current healthcare provider CPR certification, annual bloodborne pathogens training, annual hazardous materials operational level certification, documentation from a personal physician stating they are are fit to perform the duties of a firefighter, documentation that they have successfully passed a spirometry test and PPD test and immunization against Hepatitis B.</p> <p>The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department, which provides First Aid and other services at townwide functions that include half-marathons, carnivals and fairs, is open to men and women who are at least 18 years old, and annual dues are $15.</p>
