Hillel Academy, located on 4.6 acres on Stratfield Road, is a modern Orthodox school open to all streams of Judaism, with a large percentage of students from homes that are Conservative, Reform or unaffiliated.

The school is on the same property as Congregation Ahavath Achim, the only orthodox synagogue in Fairfield, and students attend Hillel Academy from as far north as New Haven and as far south as Yonkers, N.Y.

The K'tanim Preschool at Congregation Beth El, 1200 Fairfield Woods Road, is a non-profit Jewish preschool that saysMore it emphasizes the total development of each child by building a solid foundation for learning and fostering a positive self-image.

The preschool says it encourages curiousity, creativity, independence, socialization skills and intellectual growth while instilling a love for, and basic understanding of, Judaism.

Activities include arts and crafts, costumes/dress-up, day trips, free play, games, gross motor equipment, manipulative toys, a music period, nature study, outdoor play, play apparatus, puppets, puzzles, snacks, story hour and tape recorder/player.

Parent-teacher conferences are held in November and May and the preschool has an open-door policy for parents to visit.

Children turning one years old by December 31 of the this year can attend a Little Explorer's class from 9:15am to 10:45am on Fridays with a parent or caregiver. Two year olds can attend morning programs on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday from 9:15am to 11:45am, starting in January from 9:15am to 12:15pm. Three year olds can attend three, four or five days from 9:15am to 12:15pm or 9:15am to 1:15pm (which includes lunch). Four year olds can attend Monday through Friday from 9:15am to 1:15pm (which includes lunch). Enrichment classes such as cooking, science and art are offered from 1:15pm to 2:15pm for the children in the three and four year old classes.
