Southport Beach, located at 1505 Pequot Ave. in the Southport section of town, is one of six beaches in…More Fairfield.</p> <p>The Sea Lodge, a private beach and clubhouse at 1313 Pequot Ave., is located next to Southport Beach.</p> <p>Southport Beach is free and open to the public, but people who park there must have a beach sticker from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.</p> <p>Southport Beach, which is about 2.5 acres in size, includes a permanent concession stand that sells food and beverages.</p> <p>A beach sticker for Southport Beach, which also includes access to the other four Long Island Sound beaches, South Benson Marina and the town dump, costs $20 for people who have a motor vehicle registered in town. The beach sticker is free if that person is at least 62 years old or permanently disabled.</p> <p>People who own real estate in town but whose motor vehicle is not registered in town can get a beach sticker for Southport Beach, the other four Long Island Sound beaches and South Benson Marina for $55.</p> <p>Current and former town employees may get a beach sticker for Southport Beach, the other four Long Island Sound beaches and South Benson Marina for $45.</p> <p>People who are permanent residents in town and who have sole use of an out-of-town company car may get a beach sticker for Southport Beach, the other four Long Island Sound beaches, South Benson Marina and the town dump for $20.</p> <p>Southport Beach has three lifeguards during peak times in the summer and offers great views of Long Island Sound and the beginning of Westport's "Gold Coast."</p> <p>Dogs and horses, accompanied by their owners, are allowed on the beach from Oct. 1 to March 31. Dogs must be leashed, and people must clean up after their dogs and horses, according to the Parks and Recreation Department's regulations.</p>
