The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department has a total of 80 active and social members. Active members man the department's rescue truck, Rescue #15, seven nights a week beginning at 6 p.m.
Active members attend ongoing training and drills and are required to have: The minimum certification of State of Connecticut Firefighter 1, a current healthcare provider CPR certification, annual bloodborne pathogens training, annual hazardous materials operational level certification, documentation from a personal physician stating they are are fit to perform the duties of a firefighter, documentation that they have successfully passed a spirometry test and PPD test and immunization against Hepatitis B.
The Stratfield Volunteer Fire Department, which provides First Aid and other services at townwide functions that include half-marathons, carnivals and fairs, is open to men and women who are at least 18 years old, and annual dues are $15.
