The win left Warde in a five-way tie for seventh in the FCIAC with Bridgeport Central, Danbury, Greenwich and Trumbull. The Cardinals close the season at Danbury on Wednesday in a must win for both team. Danbury beat Norwalk 81-75 in overtime on Monday.

However, the Mustangs likely will need to beat undefeated St. Joseph on Wednesday to clinch a playoff spot.

The Cardinals had all kinds of trouble scoring in the first half, trailing 7-2 after the first quarter and 21-7 at the half.

Warde extended its lead to 46-23 before Greenwich made the final a bit more respectable against the Mustangs' reserves in the fourth quarter.

Sem Kroon scored 13 points and Alejandro Rodriguez added 10 for the Cardinals, who dropped to 11-8 overall and 9-8 in the FCIAC. Greenwich plays at Danbury on Wednesday in a must win for both teams.

Fairfield dropped to 10-9 heading into Wednesday's regular-season finale at Darien.

At 7-4 in the FCIAC, Fairfield is tied with Trinity Catholic for sixth place in the conference standings. The top six teams make the tier one playoffs under the FCIAC's new postseason format.

Fairfield has tiebreaker edge over New Canaan, but lost to Trinity Catholic, which concludes its season on Wednesday against Westhill.
