Thieves Targeting Unlocked Cars in Recent Spree in Fairfield

Was your street targeted this weekend?

Several neighborhoods were targeted this weekend in a car break-in/entering spree in Fairfield.

A James Street resident reported to police Saturday that sometime overnight, his unlocked car was rummaged through and the contents of the vehicle scattered throughout the interior. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

On East Lawn Street, an unlocked truck was entered sometime overnight Friday into Saturday. The owner reported the vehicle's registration was missing.

A Henry Street resident reported Saturday that sometime between midnight and 7 a.m., his unlocked vehicle was entered and his Garmin GPS (valued at $150) was stolen.

Another East Lawn Street homeowner said his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight Friday into Saturday. The registration and insurance card were taken, but electronics that were kept in plain sight, the keys (which were in the ignition), and the keys to his wife's car were left untouched.

A second Henry Street resident reported Saturday that his unlocked car was entered and $5 in change was stolen. The interior of the car appeared to be rummaged through.

A Brook Bend Road resident reported Saturday that four unlocked cars parked in his driveway had been entered overnight. Between the four cars, assorted change, auxiliary cords for electronics, a Garmin GPS, and an iPhone charger were stolen.

On Sunday, a Melville Avenue resident reported that two unlocked cars in his driveway were entered sometime overnight. A TomTom GPS worth $100 and prescription sunglasses were stolen from one car, and $20 in cash from the other.

A Pell Meadow Drive homeowner reported that his unlocked truck was entered overnight. Loose change, a black leather wallet with $35 in cash, and a black air pistol were stolen.
