John Llewellyn, corporate restructuring consultant, past PTA Council representative and longtime volunteer, has announced his candidacy for Board of Education. He hopes to win his party’s nomination at the town-wide Republican Caucus to be held at Fairfield Ludlowe High School on July 23.

Llewellyn and his wife, Dawn, have lived in Fairfield for 18 years and have three children. As an active parent volunteer, he has served as the Roger Ludlowe Middle School PTA Council Representative; contributed photos and carpentry to the RLMS Drama Club; and coached a team of students from RLMS in a LegoFirst Robotics competition, a middle school team in the Northeast Science Bowl Car Competition team, and a Fairfield Youth Lacrosse team. He also sits on the board of directors of Humanity Now, a nonprofit student service organization.

Llewellyn graduated from the Economics Honors Program at Boston College and received his MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. He has over 20 years of experience in corporate restructuring, 10 of which were as a Managing Director/Principal with two of the Big Four accounting firms; Ernst & Young and Deloitte.

As consultant to a large municipality and school district, he worked closely with administrators and employees to evaluate cash flow and budgets, and to assess operational efficiency. He is intimately familiar with the rigors of education finance and accounting, as well as business planning.

Llewellyn firmly believes valuable programs can be restored to our schools cost effectively through open communication with parents and teachers, transparent data reporting, and greater efficiency via clear district goals and reliable metrics to identify areas of success or in need of improvement.

“I truly believe that our children are our future," Llewellyn said. "We can best prepare them by having higher expectations for all students and by instilling a sense of inquisitiveness and excitement about the learning experience.”
