Decade-Long Resident, Lifelong Republican Seeks Seat on RTM
John Donovan is running on a 'Smart Spending' platform to represent District 1 on the Representative Town Meeting.
[Editor's note: The following information was provided in a press release.]
John Donovan announced his candidacy earlier this month for District 1 for the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) with a Smart Spending platform.
Although he’s been a very involved citizen since moving here with his family a decade ago, John is a new face to Fairfield politics. He offers a fresh approach to working with all RTM members and brings a common sense and collaborative, business orientation to the job, according to the release announcing his candidacy.

His priority is making Fairfield a better place to live by: holding tax growth to inflation; promoting transparency and accountability for town budget and spending priorities; keeping the Southport and Fairfield beach areas great; and preserving Pequot Library for its unique contributions to Fairfield.
Donovan is a lifelong Republican, who spent 17 years working for MasterCard and then helped found lendingclub.com, an online financial firm that currently employs over 300 people. A 10-year resident with children in Fairfield Public Schools, Donovan is a vocal advocate for tax restraint.
